Cookery Club starts again
1st February 2010
The cookery club started again on Saturday 23 January, lead by our qualified cookery teacher Rachel Singleton. All three sessions are fully booked .The first group to take part were the 5-8 year olds, with their parents joining in. This week the kids made simple all- in -one buns filled with raisins, cranberries, apples and oranges. The first session was a nice and simple introduction to cookery club whilst the kids became familiar with the equipment, techniques and keeping on top of the dreaded washing up! The older kids (9-12 year olds) also made the all-in-one buns. Everyone left with delicious fresh buns and ready for their next cookery challenge this Saturday.
This year we are also running a cookery club for adults. There has been much demand for these adult sessions. Many of the participants lack confidence in the kitchen and are hoping to increase their cookery skills and increase the range of dishes they cook. This week they made leek and potato soup and cheese scones, with fresh and local ingredients mainly from Occombe Farmshop. Everyone had a great time and most agreed that cooking was not as scary as they had first thought! There was also a discussion about the types of dishes that everyone would like to make in the subsequent sessions.
