New arrivals at Occombe Farm - Piglets!
20th July 2009
Eight new arrivals have been born at Occombe Farm over the weekend - these piglets are cross breeds as their mother is a Berkshire sow and their father an Oxford Sandy & Black boar named Boris. These are both rare British breeds of pig.
The piglets are currently burrowing their noses into their straw bedding and cuddling up closely inside the farrowing ark. Their mother is keeping a close eye on them.
In a couple of weeks we expect to see them venture further into the great outdoors and enjoy the large grassy area surrounding their ark.
Keep an eye on the blog for further updates, we'll let you know when they emerge! In the meantime, you can join one of our farmers during 'Feeding Time' at 10.30am every day from this Saturday, to visit each of the animals around the farm and ask questions.
